As part of an exciting side project in collaboration with the Austrian Road Safety Board (Kuratorium für Verkehrssicherheit), we are using the ground-breaking findings and technologies from our BAMBI project to determine the risk of wildlife accidents on public transport.
By integrating drone-based computer vision into road safety, we can not only better understand the risks of wildlife accidents, but also develop preventive measures to minimise them. This interdisciplinary collaboration demonstrates the potential of technology to overcome social challenges and sustainably improve road safety.
We now had the opportunity to present our results at the EUSafety 2023 conference in Reykjavík, Iceland. Our project team of David Schedl, Andreas Stöckl, Anna Maschek and Christoph Praschl were also there.
