We are excited to announce that our research project, BAMBI, will be showcased in the upcoming Future Talk: Climate X Change series hosted by KunstHausWien on 14.11.2024. As part of a thought-provoking evening focusing on “Climate, Art, and Artificial Intelligence,” our colleague David Schedl will present the project’s innovative approach to wildlife monitoring.
The Future Talk series explores the intersection of climate change, activism, and cutting-edge technology in response to the pressing demands of movements like Fridays for Future. The event dives into the question of whether the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence, in the era imagined by visionary James Lovelock as the “Novocene,” could be part of the solution to our current ecological crisis.
David will share insights on how BAMBI leverages drone technology and AI-driven light field analysis to detect and classify animals in their natural habitats, advancing biodiversity monitoring while minimizing human interference. The project offers a glimpse into how AI can contribute positively to environmental protection, balancing its innovative benefits with concerns around sustainability.
